TOKYO BABYLON VOL 3 CALL A version 1.0 -- Summarized by Wynne Ip (Rabi) -- Edited by Lai (ylai@pwa.acusd.edu) -- Please send corrections to rabi@mindless.com Three girls were talking over the phone about being chosen to save the world. They were expecting someone to call them soon to give them orders. They thought they were warriors in their former life, given special powers in this life to be warriors as well. They assured themselves that they were the chosen ones. Seishirou was waiting for Subaru to show up for a date at the marine museum. Subaru was late because his work held him up. They came to a fortune-telling corner. Subaru seemed hesitant about receiving a fortune-telling session. Seishirou asked him if the Sumeragis weren't allow to have fortune-telling by another person. He then asked for a computer-generated fortune-telling session so that Subaru wouldn't have to break his promise. They both gave their date and place of birth, and the print-out was generated. In the middle of it, Hokuto called Subaru through his beeper about his work. The case was about a "Dial Q-2" line. It's a party line where people could chat over the phone. Recently, there were sorcerous calls, and the telephone company hired Subaru to solve the problem. Meanwhile, Hokuto was reading the printout from the fortune-telling and was commenting about their signs being incompatible. She urged Seishirou to prove his love; Subaru was embarassed. Later, Hokuto suggested that Subaru should dial the line directly to see what's going on. Subaru called in while the three girls were talking. They cautiously asked him if he was a friend or not. They asked him if "1999" meant anything to him. Subaru immediately asked these girls if they were the ones making those phone calls. The girls thought he was their enemy, so one of them recited a "backward curse" from a book at Subaru. Subaru, at seeing spirits emitting from the telephone, returned with a kekkai spell causing a "curse back". Although it wouldn't do much damage to the girls, it was painful enough for them to throw up. The girls thought their enemy had finally appeared. Hokuto was surprised by how the spells from the girls could affect the apartment since it was heavily guarded with kekkai. Seishirou replied that because they were communicating through the telephone, the spell could pass through the kekkai there was a direct line. TOKYO BABYLON VOL 3 CALL B version 1.0 -- Summarized by Wynne Ip (Rabi) -- Edited by Lai (ylai@pwa.acusd.edu) -- Please send corrections to rabi@mindless.com The three girls had a dream. They dreamed that they were being attacked by their "enemy". Next day, Subaru, dressed in his full costume, cast a spell to create his falcon "shiki-gami". The falcon split off into 3 birds in search of the girls. They traced out who the 3 girls were through their insufficient kekkai that they set up. At that moment, the girls were attacked by some ghosts that they have accidentally called as a result of backlash. They thought they were attacked by the "enemies". Subaru saw this through his shiki and tried to help by casting a spelling through his falcon. The ghosts got expelled successfully, but Subaru was hurt a little. Seishirou explained that professional onmyoujis set up guards to prevent "backlash" which is the reflex of a spell done to the person who cast it. He said that Subaru, being a professional, had his own methods to prevent this but the girls might not know about such things and might suffer the consequence. Seishirou commented what Subaru just did was very dangerous. The shiki was called upon as a seeker, and it was dangerous for Subaru to change the nature of his spell in the middle so to speak. Because if the change failed, Subaru would be the one to suffer the consequence, i.e. a backlash. Subaru had a fever, but he still decided to help the girls because if they further cast spells hastily, they could get into serious troubles. Subaru called the line again. Only one girl was on line at the moment. She asked if it was Subaru who was making all the ghosts inside her room at that moment. Subaru explained that it wasn't him, and that it was because of the kekkai set up wrongly in her room. He promised her that nothing bad would happen to her if she tore off that piece of paper (which was supposed to be the kekkai) on her door. She did so, and Subaru began to exorcise the girl. In the middle of the exorcism, the other girls joined in the line, and thought that the first girl had betrayed them. They attacked Subaru with their "spells". Subaru couldn't return their magic because if he stopped exorcising this girl, she might end up in danger. Subaru managed to clear all the ghosts in the girl's room, but was constantly being attacked by the other 2 girls. He fainted. Hokuto tried to run inside the kekkai set up by Subaru, but was stopped by Seishirou, who stared at her for a moment; she passed out as her eyes met his. Seishirou broke into Subaru's kekkai easily, talked to the girls, and tried to explain to them what normal person were really the great persons in the world. But the girls were stubborn and kept on saying that they were special, and were chosen to save the world. Seishirou said that he didn't care whether the girls thought they were special or not. Initially he did not want to interfere in this matter until they harmed Subaru. He further said that if the girls really wanted to be special, he would give them the chance to do so. He returned them a spell which made the girls see their hands melt. Although it was only some sort of illusion, it was enough to make them quit. They turned crazy, and the parents of each of the two giels found their daughter lying on the floor, incoherent. At the end, Seishirou spoke to the fainted Subaru: "Hokuto will cry, if you get hurt in this kind of "work". Besides, your "bet" with me hasn't ended yet, Subaru." The result turned out that the girl got saved by Subaru was sent to psychiatrists by her parents because they said she saw ghosts and things. The other 2 girls had mental illness afterwards.
